A Look Ahead

ELA -

  • In Spalding this week, scholars will continue their normal daily routine, learning 10 new words each day with a 30 word test on Friday. Please ensure your scholar follows all instructions for their homework.
  • In Literature, we have concluded our journey with Robin and his Merry Men. The scholars had so much fun celebrating this novel, both with our celebration and with their essays that they wrote! This coming week, we will learn some additional background information about the Revolutionary War so that students can better understand "Paul Revere's Ride." These activities will also prepare them for our next Classic-to-Keep, Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham.
  • In Grammar, scholars will spend this week reviewing the terminology during their time as 4th graders so far! At the end of the week they will show what they've mastered by taking a quiz about the different elements of grammar. Great job, scholars, for seeking truth, goodness, and beauty in all you do!
  • In Poetry, scholars have been continuing to work had at memorizing "Paul Revere's Ride" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This week, they will practice Stanzas 1-4 and learn Stanza 5.

Math -

This week, scholars will learn to interpret a fraction of a set as a whole number times a fraction. Tuesday, they will learn how to find the fractional part of a whole. We will finish the week working with word problems in which the scholars will find the fractional part of a whole and find the whole when given the fractional part.

History -

This week we will visit the Han Dynasty, then we will meet some notable Chinese emperors!

Science -

This week we will explore stimuli in both plants and animals. We will close out the week with a fun review activity before break.
